A man has died after a bicycle crash in the Adelaide Hills.
Emergency services were called to Lobethal Rd near Deviation Rd at Basket Range about 9.30am on Monday after reports that a cyclist had crashed.
The rider, a 57-year-old Victorian man, died at the scene.
It is understood the crash occurred on a riding climb segment circuit popular with cyclists.
Major Crash officers attended the scene to examine the circumstances.
Basket Range CFS crews said they quickly responded to help SA Ambulance Service crews (SAAS) and assisted with screening and traffic control.
“When our crew arrived, SAAS were already on scene, along with a number of cyclists – some of whom were medical doctors,” they wrote in a post.
“A lone cyclist had come off his bike and had gone into cardiac arrest – with multiple bystanders assisting with CPR.”
They thanked those who had sent messages to check on the first responders.
“All our crews are doing OK, and thanks to all the cyclists who kept the road clear for our appliance.”
Roads were closed for several hours but have since reopened.
