With South Australia in the grip of a housing crisis, property has never been more front of mind.

Houses have never been more expensive. Rentals have never been more expensive.

There aren’t enough of either for the people who want them and they aren’t being built at a fast enough rate to cater for the kind of population growth the state wants, and needs, to attract to keep the economy ticking over.

Getting houses on the ground for families, first-time buyers, downsizers and investors is a priority and the people featured in The Advertiser’s real estate power rankings are the ones who are going to help do it.

Whether they are government policymakers, industry spokespeople whose job it is to keep those policymakers accountable, those in the real estate industry whose job it is to sell them, or those in the background whose job it is to ensure there is enough supportive infrastructure to facilitate these emerging communities, ensuring a smooth housing supply going forward is a team effort.

Each of these people will need to play their part to help get our state out of its current predicament.

Because, at the end of the day, everyone need a place to live, don’t they?

This list is the fifth instalment in the countdown to The Advertiser’s annual power rankings with SA’s 100 most influential people of 2024 to be revealed later this month.
