Port Adelaide woman ‘accidentally’ wins $4.8m jackpot after receiving an extra ticket

A Port Adelaide woman woke on Friday morning as a multi-millionaire, after she was accidentally given a three-game lotto ticket instead of two.

A Port Adelaide woman has become an accidental multi-millionaire, after she was given a three-game lotto ticket instead of two.

The woman purchased the The Lott’s Set for Life ticket – paid in $20,000 instalments each month for 20 years – on Thursday from Plympton Newsagency & LPO on Marion Rd at Plympton.

She held the only division one winning entry in the Set for Life draw 2401, and takes home a prize total of $4.8m.

The woman said she usually purchased a standard two-game ticket, but the shop attendant accidentally gave her a three-game entry.

“I usually buy a standard two-game entry, but when I purchased this ticket, the guy didn’t hear me correctly, and he gave me three games instead,” the woman told The Lott.

“The third game is the one that won this prize for me, so it feels like it was meant to be. It wouldn’t have happened otherwise.

The winner said she was “gobsmacked” when she checked her ticket early on Friday morning.

“Because it was so dark, I wasn’t sure if I saw things wrong when I checked the ticket,” she said.

“I probably checked it 10 times before I started to believe it was true. It was spooky.”

The woman plans to renovate her house, go on a beach holiday and help friends, family and charities.
