The day after starring in the Showdown, Port Adelaide fan-favourite Sam Powell-Pepper has revealed he’s engaged to his “soulmate” after a romantic beach proposal.
The Port Adelaide player took to Instagram to announce his engagement to the mother of his child, long-time partner Brya Waghorn.
The pair shared a joint post with the caption: “My soulmate
Hidden on Henley Beach on Sunday was Port Adelaide’s digital media producer Matt Sampson, who took incognito pictures of the couple to capture the moment.
Powell-Pepper and Ms Waghorn are parents to one-year-old daughter Frankie and are expecting their second child.
Some of the Power’s biggest names flocked the post to wish the pair well, including former Port Adelaide captain Travis Boak who recently walked his sister down the aisle during her wedding.
“So good brother,” Boak commented, with a love heart emoji.
Fellow AFL players also shared their joy at the couple’s announcement, including Richmond’s Daniel Rioli - who wrote, “congratulations … this is so good”.
Ms Waghorn’s mum Leanne Waghorn commented on the post, writing that it was the “perfect day”.
“Love you both, we are super proud and happy parents.”
Sharing a close-up of her new engagement ring, Ms Waghorn wrote: “Best day of my life … I love you so much Samuel”.
Bachelor contestant and Adelaide jeweller to the stars Cassandra Mamone made Ms Waghorn’s ring – a colourless oval diamond set in 18ct yellow gold with an added hidden diamond halo.
“Wishing you two a lifetime of love, happiness and adventure as you embark on this next chapter,” Ms Mamone posted on Instagram.
Powell-Pepper replied to Ms Mamone’s post, writing: “Thanks for making this day so special.”
