Aussie-owned e-commerce Hard To Find is shutting its doors after 16 years of operation.

The curated marketplace, best known for its personalised products from local creatives and independent artisans, announced the sad news this week on their website.

Hard To Find soared in popularity for its wide offering of trinkets, decor items and all things personalised.

Their unique approach to connecting retailers with a distinctive customer base was essential to its rise.

Founded in 2008 by former media executive Erica Stewart, she built the site from within the four walls of her Sydney home during maternity leave.

In 2022, she sold the business to Are Media with the e-commerce venture joining their broad brand portfolio.

HardToFind shared the difficult news to their customers with a farewell message penned on their website.

“Unfortunately, in light of the current economic climate, we have made the difficult decision to pause operations on all our marketplaces for the foreseeable future.”

The future of the e-commerce was summarised in a hopeful final note, thanking their customers for “being a part of their journey”

“While we are closing our doors for now, we remain hopeful that this is not goodbye forever.”

Additionally, other digital marketplaces owned by Are Media, such as Women’s Weekly and Home Beautiful, have also been put on pause.
