Police Commissioner Grant Stevens has condemned the actions of a man who threw a glass bottle at a woman sleeping rough in Adelaide, labelling the attack as “disgusting”.
Footage of the incident shows a man hurling a bottle at a woman lying on the ground, covered by a blanket, outside a medical clinic.
In the short clip, which was posted to Snapchat, the woman can be heard screaming in terror as a bottle shatters just above her head.
The man is then seen laughing after the unprovoked attack, before getting back in the car and driving off.
The incident happened at the Wakefield Medical Clinic near the corner of Hutt Street and Wakefield Street, and it is unclear if the woman was injured, as she is yet to be identified.
On Friday, Mr Stevens denounced the attack.
“It’s disgusting,” he said.
“We’re talking about a person who is obviously sleeping rough, not living in the best circumstances, and to be victimised like that is a disgrace.”
Mr Stevens said police were investigating the incident.
