Owners of a kayak that washed up at Rapid Bay on Thursday located

Alarms were raised after a kayak carrying fresh abalone in an esky washed up at Rapid Bay on Thursday. But three days later, its owners have been found.

The owners of a kayak that washed up at Rapid Bay on the Fleurieu Peninsula on Thursday have been found.

About 10am, police began searching the area after reports the blue and white two-seat kayak was found washed up at the camping ground.

It had fresh abalone in an Esky on board.

Officers were unable to find its owner after an extensive search of beaches in the area, but it has since been returned.
