An elderly pedestrian and her pet dog have been killed in a late night crash at Salisbury East.
A Toyota 4WD crashed into the woman, 81, who was walking her dog on The Grove Way about 10.30pm Monday.
The victim, from Golden Grove, could not be saved and died at the scene. It is understood her dog was struck and killed by a second car.
Major Crash Detectives examined the area, and the road was closed for some time but has since reopened.
The driver involved in the crash remained at the scene and is assisting police with investigations.
The number of lives lost this year is 36 compared to 46 at the same time last year.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or was driving nearby at the same time who may have dashcam footage should call police.
It follows a bizarre crash at Freeling on Sunday evening which saw a driver crash into a motorcyclist before speaking to witnesses then unhooking his trailer and driving off.
Police are still hunting the driver of the ute and the motorcyclist, 40, is fighting for life in the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
