A video of a vehicle driving in the water at a popular southern beach has emerged online, showing the car driving erratically in the shallows before doing doughnuts in the sand.

The video, shared by South Aussie with Cosi’s social media pages, shows a small 4WD driving dangerously on the beach at Aldinga.

In the footage, the car is seen driving in and out of the water near the boundary between Aldinga Beach and Silver Sands, and performing doughnuts in the sand.

A pedestrian is also seen standing near the vehicle as it spins around, before getting in the car.

Outraged viewers took to the comment section on social media to express their disappointment at the behaviour.

“Destroying the car is one thing, but this is the behaviour of flogs that get our good beaches closed off to vehicle access,” one person said.

“Total disrespect for the beach,” said another.

One man who has lived in the area all his life said he’d “seen it all go wrong” many times.

“Close calls with people or animals on the beach. As usual the minority will wreck it for everyone.”

An SA Police spokesperson said police were called to Aldinga Beach at about 6.30pm on Friday after reports two vehicles had been doing burnouts.

“Police attended but were not able to locate the vehicles involved,” the spokesperson said.

“Investigations are continuing.

“This type of behaviour is dangerous, reckless and poses a risk to the community as well as causing damage to the environment.”

Anyone with information that may lead to the identity of the vehicles and drivers involved are asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
