Opposition leader Peter Malinauskas considers hanging up the footy boots
The travel scandal has claimed several ministerial careers but it was a big knock on Friday night that might put the lights out on the Opposition leader’s time on the footy field.

Opposition leader Peter Malinauskas is rethinking his football future after being knocked out for the first time in his 16-year playing career.
In a week in which the Labor leader should have been on top of the world – as he watched on while three State Government Ministers and the Upper House President stood down amid perks scandals – he was nursing a sore head today.
Playing under lights for the self-dubbed ‘greatest football team in the world’, the Adelaide University Blacks, on Friday night, Mr Malinauskas clashed with an opposition player from the Black Friars Old Scholars.
After “playing a stinker” the full forward returned to the ground in the last quarter after being dragged.
“The coach offered me the opportunity ..... I thought I should come back on and make amends.

“It was not a wise decision in hindsight.
“The ball was in the air and it was a genuine contest – with two blokes going at it from opposite angle pretty hard, with eyes on the ball – and it was a deadset clean head clash.
“We were both out for about 20 to 40 seconds apparently and stretchered off.”
Mr Malinauskas has been given the all clear from his doctor but has considered hanging up the boots.
“I have been rethinking it for seven years … but it such a good outlet, and I play with a great group of lads and it is such a good healthy environment to be around but it is getting harder.”
