New concept images of the $15.4bn Torrens to Darlington project have been released to help locals understand what their neighbourhoods will look like when works are complete.

The community is being invited to have a say on a landmark Project Assessment Report (PAR), which has been released alongside the images to identify any possible improvements.

The PAR details the technical investigations, assessments and planning work undertaken to date, as well as the potential impacts and opportunities during construction.

It has considered factors including social elements, land use planning and zoning, surface water, impacts on businesses, traffic and transport conditions, noise and vibration, air quality, sustainability, potential site contamination, health, landscape and visual amenity, geology and groundwater, ecology, and Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal heritage.

A face-to-face engagement campaign will be held over the coming five weeks to improve community understanding around the project and identify local insights that were not included in the PAR.

New artist’s impression images of the project – which will complete 78km of non-stop motorway between Gawler and Old Noarlunga – will also form part of the consultation.

Community members will have the chance to submit feedback at pop-up information stalls, with the first to be held this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Kurralta Central.

Federal Infrastructure Minister Catherine King said the PAR offered new insight into the project.

“This Project Assessment Report is an incredibly detailed and complex piece of work that shows the behind-the-scenes activity on this world-leading project,” she said.

SA Infrastructure Minister Tom Koutsantonis encouraged locals to have their say.

“The importance of assessing social and environmental factors cannot be understated, as the River Torrens to Darlington project is the largest and most complex project in the state’s history,” he said.

The PAR can be viewed at t2d.sa.gov.au.
