More than 2000 TAFE SA applicants were left disappointed yesterday when they were incorrectly emailed course offers for next year, only to have them retracted shortly after.
Applicants have been left not knowing if they are in or out, and must wait until next month to find out. Many will be accepted, but some may not.
TAFE SA said it moved to clear up the bungle as soon as it could.
“A follow-up clarification email was sent to advise the applicants to disregard this (first) communication,” it said in a statement issued late yesterday.
“TAFE SA is reviewing its systems and processes to identify how this occurred to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
“TAFE SA apologises for any inconvenience and confusion this has caused.”
It said affected applicants were provided with contacts should they feel the need to seek “further clarification and support”.
The bungle comes just days after a technical glitch de-railed an exam being sat by thousands of South Australian students.
On Wednesday, more than 2700 students sitting an online pyschology exam were forced to abandon it after a technical glitch with one a video question.
The exam could not be re-scheduled because students had already seen the questions.
Students will instead be issued with a “derived” score calculated by the teacher’s prediction of how the student was likely to perform.
