Burning incense is believed to have sparked a house fire in Mansfield Park on Saturday afternoon, half an hour before it was due to open for inspection to potential buyers.
The resident suffered burns to his face and arms and had to be hosed down by firefighters in front of the property before being taken to hospital.
The blaze, which started just before 2pm, spread to a neighbouring home that was evacuated.
Once firefighters extinguished the blaze they entered the home to put out spot fires.
Firefighters told 7NEWS they didn’t believe the home had working smoke alarms.
It comes just six days after a candle was believed to have sparked a devastating fire that destroyed a rental property and killed a Modbury Heights family’s pet cats.
The fire broke out about 11pm Saturday at the Taylor Street home, with its occupants able to escape serious injury as neighbours defended their own properties with garden hoses.
