A unique opportunity to own one of Adelaide’s most iconic night-life venues is up for grabs, with owners looking to sell both the business and it’s massive online following.

In December, McGees Property group advertised Hindley Street business Mr Kim’s for sale, along with its thousands of social media followers.

The club, which opened in 2013, is currently operated by the mastermind behind Crippen Place venues Electric Circus and Rocket Bar and Rooftop, Jake Phillips.

However, Mr Kims, which is in a completely different building to its colourful sibling venues, is now up for grabs.

“McGees Property is pleased to announce for sale the business or Mr Kim’s Nightclub and Bar,” the club’s online listing states.

“The venues have hosted a variety of parties and artists including Drake, Flight Facilities, Kaytranada, The Veronicas and a plethora of after parties for large scale music events hosted in South Australia.”

The club, which has no listed sale price, is home to a multi-level entertainment complex that currently holds a 5am Liquor License, but remains “closed without announcement.”

“The venue itself is presented in an up-market, tidy, and large floorplan with nightclub specified lighting, fire alarm system and bar layout modules.

“The tenancy comprises of a 3-storey building including Bar and Nightclub on the ground floor, terrace bar and smoking area at the rear, basement including storage and server room for security cameras as well as a top floor toilet and rest area with views of Hindley Street.”
Despite the sale, the online listing makes it clear the current owners aren’t selling the business off lightly, as they ask potential new owners to “continue the Kim’s legacy.”

“This business located at 134 Hindley Street, Adelaide has been at the forefront of the Hip Hop/Party scene since its inception and is now seeking an eligible operator to continue the Kim’s legacy.”

Along with the venue, new owners will also have control over the club’s social media pages, with a collective 22,500+ followers.

The real estate group said there was a five year lease on the premises, which commenced in September 2022, but it has two further five year renewal terms.

“The current annual rental on the premises is $139,050 per annum plus GST plus outgoings.”

Mr Phillips declined to comment on the sale, but noted the listing had been live for two months already.

Anyone who is interested in purchasing the club is encouraged to contact McGees Property.
