Man loses car, licence after blowing almost 5 times over limit | Drink driver refuses breath test after northern suburbs crash

A driver has been busted for allegedly driving disqualified, under the influence and almost five times over the limit, while another has been nabbed after leaving a trail of destruction.

A man will face court after he was busted allegedly driving disqualified and under the influence in Adelaide’s north west on Sunday.

Authorities allege around 10.20pm a Holden sedan, registered to a disqualified owner, was seen travelling east on Grand Junction Rd.

Police stopped the car and administered a breath test.

The driver returned a positive ready of 0.214 – nearly five times over the legal limit.

The 32-year-old Largs Bay man was reported for drink-driving and driving while disqualified. He was issued a 12-month immediate loss of licence notice and his car was impounded for 28 days.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Further north, an alleged drink driver has been arrested after crashing his car at Smithfield Plains.

About 10.15pm on Sunday, emergency services were called to Barker Crescent after a Toyota Kluger crashed into a parked car and then reversed into a fence.

Nearby residents who heard the crash ventured into the street to investigate. They took the keys from the car’s ignition while others called police.

On arrival police arrested a 30-year-old Smithfield Plains man. He allegedly refused to comply with a breath test and checks also revealed he had a suspended licence.

The man was charged with driving under the influence, driving without due care and driving suspended.

His car was impounded for 28 days and he will appear in court at a later date.
