Man hit by truck and killed at Hart, in South Australia’s Mid North, identified as Terry Smithers
A family has been left devastated by the death of a father hit by a truck and killed this week, who recently moved to South Australia from Queensland.

The 52-year-old man who was struck by two vehicles at Hart, between Blyth and Brinkworth in South Australia’s Mid North, on Tuesday has been identified as Terry Smithers.
The incident occurred around 7pm on Tuesday along the Rail Corridor Road.
Police say Mr Smithers was struck by a car and truck and died at the scene.
The Advertiser understands Mr Smithers recently moved to South Australia from Queensland, but is originally from New South Wales.
His daughters Tori-Leanne Smithers and Kiana-Dare Smithers took to Facebook to pay tribute.
She wrote: “It is with heavy hearts that we tell you he sadly passed away on Tuesday, August 6th, while in South Australia.
“We are doing our best to make it through this difficult time and appreciate everyone’s understanding of our privacy.
“Please share a photo of a memory and your condolences … we would love to see the good times that everyone had with him.”
Ms Smithers said arrangements for her father’s funeral were still underway.
Friends of the family left heartfelt comments under the post, sharing their favourite moments with Mr Smithers, as well as sending their love and condolences to all impacted by this loss.
Samantha Gozna wrote: “Rest in peace great man! You will be missed, life’s so unfair. Sending all my love to you guys.”
Similarly, Karen Hall commented: “I’m so sorry to hear this sad news. I grew up with your Dad from the age of 4. Lots of fun memories … love to all of you.”
A friend of the victim said he moved to South Australia looking for a better life. He added that Mr Smithers was passionate about suicide prevention.
He is the 53rd person to due on South Australian roads this year.
