Police have launched an intensive search for a man who set three friends alight inside a Woodville West house early Wednesday.

The three victims, who were doused with a flammable liquid, all suffered serious burns in the horrific incident that occurred just before 4am. A male is in a critical condition, while two females in their 20s are serious but stable.

Metropolitan Fire Crews rushed to the house on Calendar Place after multiple calls from neighbours to a fire that started in the lounge room.

The blaze was quickly contained but a man and two women suffered serious burns in the incident, and were all taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Crime Scene Investigators and detectives are investigating, and believe it was deliberately lit.

Police say all parties are known to each other, and are not considering the blaze a random attack.

A local resident who did not wish to be identified said he woke to a woman yelling for help.

“She came down the street banging on my door,” he said.

He said her hands were burned and she had burns to her face.

“I applied the basic first aid and called triple-0,” he said.

Nikita De Cristofaro lives near the scene and said she woke to police, and a man moaning in pain.

“I heard a guy moaning … saying he was sorry and he was in pain,” Ms De Cristofaro.

“It’s obviously a very horrible thing to hear someone in pain.”

A man who lives nearby, who only wanted to be referred to as Mark, said a woman knocked on his door around 4am in pain.

“We came outside because we heard someone knock on our door … I’m assuming it was the woman,” Mark said.

“I just saw one of the girls who lives there out on the street … she was pretty distressed.”

“She was just screaming in pain.”

Mark called the police and said the ambulance and fire trucks arrived shortly after.

Jo Flavel was woken to flashing police lights.

“There were four police cars … and commotion down there but I have no idea what happened,” Ms Flavel said.
