Terrifying Adelaide Hills hotel robbery, machete-wielding man on the run after servo robberies

Two masked suspects are at large after a terrifying robbery at a top Adelaide Hills hotel forced staff to hide. A machete-wielding man is also on the run after a servo raid.

An Adelaide Hills hotel has been the victim of a terrifying robbery that sent staff hiding in fear.

Just after midnight on Monday, staff at the Stirling Hotel on Mount Barker Rd were finishing up for the night when they heard banging and crashing coming from the gaming room area.

The staff members immediately ran and hid from the offenders before calling the police.

Two masked suspects had smashed their way into the gaming room and stole an amount of cash before leaving the hotel on foot dropping some stolen cash in the carpark on the way out.

The staff members were not injured or confronted during the incident.

While police arrived on scene they were unable to find the suspects despite searching the area.

Earlier this month the hotel won the best deluxe pub accommodation category at the Australian Hotel Association (AHA) awards.

This comes after a machete-wielding man robbed two service stations in the southern suburbs.

The armed bandit allegedly entered a Goldsmith Drive service station at Noarlunga Centre and demanded money from the till around 11pm on Sunday.

He fled the scene with an amount of cash and was last seen running towards the Colonnades shopping centre.

In a second incident at 4.15am on Monday, police were called to a service station on Dyson Rd at Christies Beach after a staff member reported a rock had been used to smash a window.

The same suspect entered the store and stole money from the till before fleeing the scene.

No one was injured in either incident.
