OPPOSITION leader Steven Marshall is launching an online video on Sunday to lift his profile among voters as part of his bid to become the state’s next premier.
The five-minute video features former prime minister John Howard and state Liberal MPs, as well as Mr Marshall’s two children, Charlie and Georgie, and his sister Kerrin Barreau.
His son and daughter speak about their father’s love of loud music and his “really embarrassing singing” while Mr Howard describes Mr Marshall as a forward-thinker.
“He struck me as somebody who, above everything else, was thinking about the future of the state and not just about short-term expediency,” Mr Howard said.
Adelaide MP Rachel Sanderson described the Opposition leader as a “very hard-working person that is dedicated to making South Australia better”.
“He leads from the front because he never expects you to do what he wouldn’t do himself,” she said.
Mitchell MP Corey Wingard said Mr Marshall would be a “great premier for our state” and would “do wonderful things for South Australia”.
Mr Marshall, who spoke about his upbringing and why the Liberal party should be elected to government at the March 17 poll, said he wakes at 5.15am every morning because he was “hungry to make sure that we can get rid of this government come March”.
“The reality is South Australia deserves a new government, a government that is going to put the people of South Australia first and to make sure that we can achieve our full potential as a state,” he said.
“Now we’ve got a great opportunity on March 17 we can hit the reset button in South Australia.
“What we need is a Liberal majority government in place so that we can lower the cost of living, create jobs, bring investment dollars into South Australia, lower energy costs and deliver frontline services, the best in the nation – that’s exactly what you’ll get if you elect a Marshall on March 17 this year.”
