Police have also warned of lengthy delays at the Oodla Wirra border checkpoint for travellers coming in to SA from NSW via Broken Hill and surrounds, due to travellers not filling out a Cross Border Travel Registration before arriving at the checkpoint.

You can find the Cross Border Travel Registration here.

“We’re asking everyone, especially people driving on country roads and highways, to drive carefully, don’t take unnecessary risks and be patient.

Port Wakefield – one of South Australia’s most notorious stretches of road – is set for a $124.5m overhaul after the Federal Government agreed to tip in funding for an overpass across the Copper Coast and Augusta highways.
Contractors have set up site offices and some initial works have begun at the site – about 2km north of Port Wakefield.
The overpass includes construction of a two-lane bridge over the Copper Coast Highway and Augusta Highway to ease long traffic queues during peak holiday periods.
