Labor treasury spokesman Stephen Mullighan has paid a parking ticket he copped during a press conference yesterday afternoon.
Mr Mullighan was addressing the media near the State Administration Centre at Victoria Square about 12pm when a television camera operator alerted him to a parking inspector putting a ticket on his Land Rover.
“Are you serious?” Mr Mullighan replied.
He was then captured on film liaising with the parking inspector, but the conversation ended quickly and Mr Mullighan did not dispute he parked in the wrong area.
“He (the inspector) rightly pointed out I was parking in the wrong spot,” Mr Mullighan told The Advertiser.
“It’s my mistake, no-one likes getting a parking ticket but it’s no excuse to remonstrate with a parking inspector.
“You’ve got to cop that on the chin”
Mr Mullighan paid the $71 fine on Friday morning.
The press conference was to address SA’s latest unemployment figures for January, which were the worst in the country.
