THE woman linked to the Karlie and Khandalyce murder investigation has reached an out-of-court settlement with the alleged killer for injuries she sustained in a car crash.

The District Court on Monday heard that Hazel Passmore had settled her claim against former partner Daniel Marshall, now known as Daniel Holdom, over the 2008 crash in South Australia’s Far North.

Ms Passmore was crippled and two of her children died when Holdom swerved to avoid kangaroos and rolled his 4WD on the Stuart Hwy, about 55km north of Marla.

Her children Ryan, 7, and Willow, 9, died at the scene. Her third child, Lauryn, survived.

The crash happened several months before Holdom allegedly murdered Karlie Pearce-Stevenson and her daughter Khandalyce — a mystery that gripped the nation for months after Khandalyce’s remains were found in a suitcase beside an SA country highway last year.

After the car crash, Ms Passmore, whose left leg had to be amputated above the knee, told police she did not blame Marshall for the accident.

Court documents showed Ms Passmore was seeking unspecified damages in her claim, in which she asserted the crash and her injuries were caused by Holdom’s negligence.

However, she did not seek compensation for the deaths of her two children — an oversight Master Mark Rice recommended she address prior to the lawsuit entering settlement discussions.

The court on Monday heard Ms Passmore and Holdom had reached a settlement over her claim.

The Advertiser understands any payout would come from Holdom’s compulsory third-party insurance.

Holdom is in custody in NSW and has yet to plead to two counts of murder over the deaths of Karlie and Khandalyce.

Police allege Holdom killed Ms Pearce-Stevenson, 20, sometime around December 15, 2008, and dumped her body at Belanglo State Forest, where it was found in August 2010.

They allege he murdered Khandalyce near the NSW town of Wallaroo while on the way to South Australia.

Police said they believed the toddler died sometime between 2.17am on December 19 and 12.52am on December 20.

The skeletal remains of Khandalyce were found dumped in a suitcase alongside the Karoonda Hwy near Wynarka in July last year — more than 1000km from her mother’s remains.

Police have alleged a woman in a wheelchair impersonated Ms Pearce-Stevenson to access her bank account.

No charges have been laid against Ms Passmore, who told The Advertiser she would face “no charges in relation to murder’’.

Since Holdom’s arrest, Ms Passmore has dismantled her social media presence.

Ms Pearce-Stevenson and Khandalyce were laid to rest at a joint funeral in Alice Springs in December last year.
