Nathan Palmer loved to make people laugh, and had a positive energy friends say was contagious.

The young man was tragically killed in a horror hills crash this week, and has been remembered by his mates as a loving and selfless man.

“Nathan was good bloke that would put others before himself,” his friend, Patrick Brown said.

“When Nathan was around he had that energy that would just put a smile your face.”

It was in the early hours of Tuesday morning when Mr Palmer, 21, was travelling along Forreston Rd at Mt Crawford and his car crashed into a tree.

His partner, Jasmine, 21 and her two children aged four and five escaped with non life-threatening injuries, and were pulled from the burning wreckage by a passer-by.

Jasmine was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment while the children were taken to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Fondly known to his friends as “Palmie”, Mr Brown met Mr Palmer about four years ago at a train station.

“He had nowhere to go for the night, and because I’ve been homeless before … I said ‘nah man, you can come back here for the night.’

“He came back to my sisters house and ended up moving in and staying.”

Mr Brown lived with Mr Palmer for about a year and a half.

He said his friend was living at in a tent at the time of his death.

Every week the pair would go to the Somerset Hotel at Para Hills.

Mr Brown said he would go to enjoy a parmy at the pub this week in his mate’s memory.

“He loved cars and motorbikes, fixing them getting his hands dirty. Then having fun riding and driving them around,” Mr Brown said.

He spoke to his mate on the phone Monday, and will always remember their last conversation.

“The last thing he said to me was I love you brother, and I’m only a phone call away,” he said.

Heartbroken friends took to social media to remember Mr Palmer.
