A fresh new “experience-based” venue is on track to open in a popular city street later this year.
The 27 Halifax Street Project, complete with a retro bowling alley, will encompass the merger of three popular state-based companies – The Big Easy Group, Gonzo Group and Divide Agency.
Oliver Brown, co-founder of The Big Easy Group, said the “cohesive project” is “a graduation from the small bar owner-operated scene”.
“We wanted to kind of merge this sort of renaissance of restaurants and small bars and this kind of really high quality owner-operated model,” he said.
“It’ll help create that really unique experience-based venue”.
Mr Brown said the intention is to create a “multi-use space” with “quality being the foundation of the whole site”.
The diverse space will be completed with an 80-seat restaurant, casual dining area and courtyard, and a “hidden” bowling alley.
“Design is sort of the forefront of everything we do,” Mr Brown said.
The restaurant will boast a central open kitchen producing fresh and seasonal food while the casual space will focus on tapas style food with innovative cocktails and hyper local beers.
A two-lane bowling alley will be a fun touch to the versatile space that Mr Brown described as a “classy take on entertainment”.
“We wanted the space to kind of cater to everyone,” he said. “We’re pretty pumped.”
The co-founder said the well-thought-out project had design at its forefront.
“The design, from the branding on the Instagram to the branding of the site … is just as important as good food and drinks,” he said.
The project is still in the review process and if approved is expected to open later this year.
