Fundraiser for toddler Izabella Smith, who was tragically killed in a driveway accident at Tailem Bend
More than $2500 has already been raised to help pay for a funeral for a toddler tragically killed in a driveway accident at Tailem Bend.
An online fundraiser has been created to collect donations to help pay for the funeral of a toddler tragically killed in a driveway accident at Tailem Bend.
Eighteen-month-old Izabella Smith died after she was hit by a silver Toyota Prado 4WD in the driveway of a High St property just after midday on Saturday.
Her parents Kyle Smith, 25, and Jasmine Carter, 24, had been helping a friend move house at the time.
They immediately rushed her to the Tailem Bend Hospital for treatment but she sadly succumbed to her injures just before 12.30pm.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, Izabella’s godmother Jessica Hefford has created a GoFundMe page to help pay for the little toddler’s funeral.
On Thursday evening, just 24 hours after it was established, the page had already raised more than $2500 of its $10,000 goal.
“Bella was loved by everyone that came in contact with her, from her cheeky laugh and smile down to her more than infectious personality,” Ms Hefford wrote on the page.
“Everyday with her was an adventure.”
Ms Hefford said the fundraiser aimed to ease the financial burden for Mr Smith and Ms Carter as they grieved the loss of their daughter.
“While there are still so many hard decisions and plans that need to be made, in this heartbreaking time we want to help ease the burden for Jasmine and Kyle by raising funds for the funeral,” she wrote.
“The family is beyond grateful for the support and any donations that come their way.”
Mr Smith and Ms Carter paid tribute to Izabella on Sunday.
“She was the type of kid to make you feel special even if you are having a horrible day,” they told The Advertiser.
The couple described their little girl as “happy and courageous” as well as “adventurous, mischievous and determined”.
