Former Adelaide Crows defender turned Brisbane Lion Tom Doedee has announced his engagement to long-term partner, Emily Brugman.
In an Instagram post today, Doedee, 27, and Ms Brugman were congratulated by dozens of people, including AFLW player Chelsea Randall.
“Well overdue, but good things come to those who wait,” Doedee said.
“Here’s to forever with you.”
Doedee, who was drafted with a first-round pick in 2015, was traded to Brisbane for the 2024 season after the Crows’ offer of a discounted two-year deal was almost tripled by Brisbane.
Brisbane offered him a four-year deal with a fifth-year trigger at around $700,000 a season.
Doedee played 41 games in 2021 and 2022, recording the fifth most intercept possessions in the competition in 2021.
He was overlooked for the Adelaide captaincy at the start of the 2023 season in favour of second-year recruit Jordan Dawson when Rory Sloane stepped down from the role.
He had previously filled stand-in duties for Sloane in only his 27th game when the longtime skipper was injured in 2020.
Doedee and Ms Brugman have been together since 2014, according to Ms Brugman’s Instagram.
She regularly keeps her 2000 Instagram followers updated with pics of her adorable dog, Lenny, as well as all things footy, weddings and golden-hour shots.
In 2023, she posted photos of taking her little nephew River to a Crows game, sporting a mini Crows jersey with ‘Uncle T’ on the back.
