Foo Fighters skip Adelaide on their Australian tour and the fans are mad

Fans, including Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald, have made an impassioned plea for the Foo Fighters to play in Adelaide during their Aussie tour. Sign the petition to get them here.

Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald is leading an impassioned crusade to bring US rock legends Foo Fighters to Adelaide later this year.

On Monday, one of the world’s biggest rock bands, Foo Fighters – fronted by Dave Grohl – announced they were coming to Australia in December, but left Adelaide off its list of shows.

Foo fanatic and Nova Sydney breakfast host Fitzgerald is spearheading a campaign, dubbed Operation Foo 2022, to get the rockers to add a date in his hometown.

He’s started an online petition and pleaded with the band in a video he’s shared on social media.

“After 17 years the absence of South Australia has popped its head up again because the Foo Fighters have called another national tour and Adelaide has been left off the list.

“Let’s share the love – let’s make some noise again,” Fitzy said.

It’s not the first time Fitzy has led a movement to bring Foo Fighters to Adelaide.

In 2005 when he was still working as part of Adelaide’s Nova brekkie show, he joined forces with The Advertiser, vowing to convince the band to come to town.

“We did this in 2005 – anyone who went to that gig, it was amazing.

“Why don’t we get Bad//Dreems to support them and have a rocking night out!”

After 6000 people signed a petition and fans bombarded the group’s website, they eventually relented and played a gig at the Thebarton Theatre.

“If someone’s going to go far enough to get a petition, then we gotta get there,’’ said drummer Taylor Hawkins at the time.

Others took to social media on Monday evening in frustration over not being able to see the band in their home state.

“Don’t get too excited about the Foo Fighters guys,” one man wrote.

“Just went to buy pre-sale tickets and as you can imagine, Adelaide doesn’t get a show.”

Another man wrote on Facebook: “No Foo Fighters in Adelaide, WTF.”
