Multiple flights were diverted and delayed as thick fog blanketed metropolitan Adelaide on Thursday morning.
The Advertiser understands several flights into Adelaide Airport were delayed and sent into holding patterns, while two flights were not able to land.
An Adelaide airport spokesperson said fog had been impacting operations with flights turned back to their origins.
“At 8.45am, Jetstar JQ772 from Melbourne has diverted back to Melbourne and Rex ZL4351 from Pt Lincoln has returned to Pt Lincoln,” the spokesman said.
He said several flights are currently in holding patterns waiting for the fog to lift, however two flights – Virgin VA211 from Melbourne and Jetstar JQ762 from Sydney – had been able to land in the past half-hour.
“All early morning arrivals were able to land and departures have not been affected,” the spokesman said.
“If you’re travelling today out of Adelaide we recommend checking with your airline for the latest flight information.”
