Flagstaff Rd at Darlington closed after cyclist critically hurt in crash

A cyclist has been critically hurt in a crash on a southern suburbs thoroughfare.

A cyclist is fighting for his life in hospital after he crashed his bike at Darlington this morning.

Emergency services were called to Flagstaff Rd, near Hyland Ave, after it is believed the cyclist fell of his bike at around 6.40am on Wednesday.

The 57-year-old male rider was rushed to the Flinders Medical Centre in a critical condition.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Flagstaff Rd is closed to all citybound traffic from Happy Valley Drive and Black Rd while Major Crash investigators examine the scene.

Police are urging motorists to avoid the area if possible.

In another serious crash on Wednesday, two students were hit by a truck in front of Marryatville High School on Kensington Rd and left seriously injured.
