An eastern suburbs Asian cuisine restaurant has shut its doors following a difficult year for the state’s hospitality sector.
BaliThai on Glynburn Rd at Firle announced its closure last month, with December 29 being its last day of trading.
“As 2024 comes to an end, BaliThai comes to an end too,” the restaurant said on social media.
“It’s a goodbye from us here at BaliThai. We have officially closed.
“We would like to say another thankyou to each and every one of you for all the support and wish you all love best in 2025.”
The restaurant is one of dozens of SA hospitality venues to have closed its doors last year.
Among them were beloved institutions Cardone’s at Jetty Rd, Glenelg, and Martini’s on the Parade, in Norwood, My Lover Cindi, on Pirie St, burger bar chain Cheffy Chelby’s and Port Adelaide nightclub Confession.
Customers voiced their disappointment as BaliThai’s closure, describing the move as “very sad”.
“Your food and service is beautiful,” said one person.
But there was a glimmer of hope for the disappointed foodies, with the business saying it “might also consider restructuring, depending on what the owner decides”.
Its website states “BaliThai is temporarily closed”.
“Please stay tuned for updates on our future plans.”
