Former Opposition Leader David Speirs has quietly put almost half of his extensive property portfolio on the market.
Mr Speirs has listed for sale a house in Middleton, two units in Christies Beach, a unit in Mitcham, another in Oaklands Park.
The properties are being sold off-market, and one of the Christies Beach units has already been snapped up for $408,000.
The Advertiser in October reported Mr Speirs’ Kingston Park home was up for sale.
The six properties form almost half of Mr Speirs’ 13-strong property portfolio.
A seventh Kingston Park property is currently listed for rent.
It comes as Mr Speirs faced the Christies Beach Magistrates Court for the first time on Friday, charged with one count of supplying or administering a drug, other than cannabis, to a person.
Police allege the offence occurred at Kingston Park between August 1 and 10, 2024.
Mr Speirs resigned as leader of the SA Liberal Party on August 8, 2024.
Police originally charged Mr Speirs in October with two counts of supplying a controlled substance however one of those charges has been dropped.
In September, The Advertiser published a video of Mr Speirs appearing to snort an unspecified white powder in the kitchen of his Kingston Park home.
Metadata revealed the video was recorded on June 30. Mr Speirs claims the recording was a deepfake, while a top forensic analyst concluded it was “authentic” with no indication of tampering.
Mr Speirs used his first court appearance, on Friday, to deliver a three-minute address to the media thanking them for attending, saying he had missed them and urging voters to support Liberal candidate Amanda Wilson in Saturday’s by-election.
He will next appear in court in March.
Mr Speirs and his lawyer have both been contacted for comment.
