The partner of a young man killed in a motorcycle crash at Warradale has paid him an emotional tribute, saying she promises their unborn child will know how excited he was to meet them.
Shaylee Marie, the mother of Brandon Kent’s baby boy, will now raise their son and expected second child alone after the 19-year-old died when a reversing car crashed into the motorcycle he was riding on Morphett Rd on Thursday night.
The crash happened about 7.40pm.
Distraught members of Mr Kent’s family, and his friends, gathered at the scene on Thursday night consoling each other.
Shaylee took to Facebook to share her devastation of her partner’s passing on Friday.
“Thank you for being the best partner to me, thank you for being the best daddy to our little boy, he knows how much you loved him.” Shaylee wrote.
“I promise that our baby on the way will know how excited you were to meet it.”
She apologised to Mr Kent in her emotional tribute.
“I wish I could have done more … I wish I hugged you more.
“I love you so much Brandon, I don’t know how I’m going to do this without you.”
Tributes were shared online for Mr Kent, with one friend designing stickers in their mate’s memory, with proceeds of the sales going towards arranging the young man’s funeral.
Another wrote, “Rest easy brother, my next drink will be for you”.
Police say the motorcycle was stolen from Gepps Cross in April.
Mr Kent’s death was the 49th life lost on South Australian roads, compared with 45 at the same time last year. He is the 11th motorcycle fatality.
Kyle Sydenham, 17, was killed in a motorcycle crash at Pompoota, near Murray Bridge, at the end of last month. His mother remembered him as a smart boy with lots of love to give.
