An elderly man has escaped uninjured after a boating accident at Christies Beach on Friday morning.
The man was fishing at Horseshoe Reef, when another boat – owned by an elderly couple – crashed into the man’s boat around 8am.
The three people sailed back to the safety at the O’Sullivan Beach boat ramp before paramedics arrived.
A woman whose boat crashed into the other man’s boat said the accident was caused by the sun and inattention.
“Well, we had a moment of inattention, I think. The sun was in my eyes and somehow we bumped into another boat,” she told 7NEWS.
Paramedics treated the skipper of the damaged boat for a minor head injury from the accident.
Last month, Andrew McLeod, 60, died after falling from a boat a day before the Lincoln Week Regatta.
The grandfather was part of the Summer Jewel crew, who were scheduled to compete in the race.
