How about this for a super-fresh seafood takeaway?

The superb image of an eastern osprey carrying a large snook it had just caught was taken by amateur photographer Christine Georgio on the Port Lincoln foreshore.

Ms Georgio, a keen member of the local photography club, saw the magnificent bird carrying its prize catch just off the Limani Motel and hurriedly snapped a few dozen frames before it flew out of range.

“I have seen them carrying smaller fish before, but never something as large as this one,’’ she said.

A pair of the birds hunt along the north shore and roost in pine trees there, but it is suspected they nest on a barge adjacent Lincoln Cove.
