Specialty chocolate made for next week’s Father’s Day celebrations were the main victims of a destructive crash caused by a car ploughing through Bracegirdle’s at Blackwood.
Staff at the store were relieved there were no serious injuries in the crash just after 9am Friday at the Main Rd shop, which caused the business significant damage.
Head barista at Bracegirdle’s Blackwood, Luke Uthenwoldt, said the store did not have to close after the crash, which smashed the front windows and door.
Mr Uthenwoldt said the fact no one was injured was ”the main thing”.
“One of our staff members was in the room at the time but she was OK … all the customers and staff were fine,” he said.
“We lost a decent amount of Father's Day chocolate and stock, I feel sorry for our poor chocolatiers who worked hard to make them, they were only delivered a couple of days ago.”
A female driver was being treated by paramedics for minor injuries at the scene.
She did not require hospital treatment.
Mr Uthenwoldt said the driver looked shocked after the crash.
Police and the State Emergency Service attended to assist with boarding up the shop, which remains.
It comes after a driver more than three times over the legal alcohol limit crashed at Munno Para West overnight.
