Death by careless driving charge for 24yo man for death of Kyrie Horspool, 2, at Edinburgh North Tyrepower

An investigation into the tragic death of a young child has resulted in a young man being charged with death by careless driving.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the death of Kyrie Horspool, 2, after a tragic incident in Adelaide’s north late last month.

Kyrie was struck by a vehicle at Tyrepower Elizabeth in the shop’s Peachey Rd car park on Friday May 30, dying at the scene.

A police investigation into the death led to the arrest of a 24-year-old Elizabeth North man who has since been charged with causing death by careless driving.

The Elizabeth North man was granted bail to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on July 31, and has been issued an immediate loss of licence until further order.

Kyrie is survived by his dad Bradley Horspool, mum Dannielle Slaughter, and five-year-old brother Kobi.

Flowers, notes and children’s toys were left at Tyrepower Elizabeth following the tragedy, including a letter from his “Nanny and Grandad” that said “love you my beautiful grandson, love you now and forever”.

Another person sticky-taped a note to the fence describing the young boy as a “blessing”.

“The world lost part of its sunshine today,” they wrote.

“Your beautiful, cheeky smile will be missed by so many. You were such a light to everyone who knew you. A true blessing in typical boy form.

“Love you always, my chunky.”

Tyrepower general manager Richard Ellery told The Advertiser it was a “tragic time for everybody” involved, and the business owners were doing what they could to support authorities through investigations.

“We (Tyrepower) and the business owners have extended our heartfelt condolences to the family for the tragic loss of their beloved child,” Mr Ellery said.
