Distraught Foo Fighters fans are in shock over the news that their favourite front man, nice guy Dave Grohl, has a secret love child.
Grohl, 55, who had been rock-solid with his wife, Jordyn Blum, since 2003, made his confession on Instagram, revealing that he has fathered a baby girl “outside of my marriage” and plans to be a “loving and supportive parent” to his new daughter.
He is already the father of three daughters with Blum.
“I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness,” Grohl said in his post.
His shocked fans have taken to social media to express their grief, with many saying they feel “betrayed”.
But he’s not the first celebrity to become a secret father.
ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER
The Terminator star was married to Maria Shriver, a member of the Kennedy clan, when news broke that he had a secret 10-year-old son with his family’s maid, Mildred Patricia Baena.
The former California governor only found out about his son, Joseph Baena, when the boy was eight years old and confessed to Shriver, mother of his four children, Katherine, Patrick, Christina and Christopher, in a couples therapy session in 2011. They later divorced.
Now 77, Schwarzenegger is a proud dad to 26-year-old Baena, a model and actor who bears an uncanny resemblance to his father.
CLINT EASTWOOD
The Hollywood legend fathered two children – Scott and Kathryn – with a flight attendant while he was living with celebrated actress and director Sondra Locke.
For years, he was estranged from his children, who were raised by their mum, Jocelyn Reeves. It was only 30 years later that the Academy Award winner finally accepted them into his life.
Today, they have a more healthy relationship with their 94-year-old father and sometimes share the red carpet with him.
EDDIE MURPHY
It took a bitter court battle for the Beverley Hills star to admit that he had fathered a daughter with Spice Girl Mel B in 2006.
Murphy dated the superstar after divorcing his wife, Nicole, but refused to take responsibility for the singer’s child, Angel Iris Murphy Brown.
Murphy was issued an order to pay almost $70,000 a month in child support for Angel until she is 18. She is currently 17.
STEVE TYLER
Liv Tyler grew up believing her dad was Todd Rundgren, founder of US rock band Utopia.
But her real dad was another rock legend – Aerosmith singer Steve Tyler.
The 47-year-old actress discovered the truth – that she was conceived during a brief fling in 1976 – when she started to notice that she shared the striking features of Tyler’s daughter, Mia.
Today, she is close to both 76-year-old Tyler and her adoptive dad, Rundgren.
KING CHARLES AND QUEEN CAMILLA
Queensland’s Simon Charles Dorante-Day claims that he is the “firstborn son” of King Charles and Queen Camilla.
Last year, Mr Dorante-Day – who was adopted when he was eight months old – made a public appeal to the 75-year-old monarch to “come clean”.
Mr Dorante-Day claims he was conceived in 1965 by a 17-year-old Charles and 18-year-old Camilla, long before they began their affair.
He has said that a DNA test would prove he is the rightful heir to the English throne, as he was born before Prince William.
JIMMY BARNES
TV host and singer David Campbell grew up oblivious to the fact that he was the Cold Chisel legend’s son.
But at the age of 10, Campbell discovered the family secret that the Aussie rocker was his dad, his “sister” was his biological mother and his “mum” was actually his grandmother.
Today, they share a close bond and a love of performing together.
Barnes, who was 16 when Campbell was born, has six other children – four with wife Jane and another two from previous relationships.
STEVE JOBS
The Apple founder split from his high school sweetheart, Chrisann Brennan, after she told him she was pregnant in 1977.
She was forced to clean houses to support her young daughter, Lisa, while Jobs – who denied being the father – built his company, now worth billions of dollars.
Eventually, the tech giant apologised to Lisa and her mum for his behaviour and tried to build a relationship.
But his daughter later revealed in her biography that his cool manner had made her feel unwanted. She inherited a multimillion-dollar fortune when he died of pancreatic cancer in 2011.
TOM JONES
The Sex Bomb singer famously boasted that he had slept with 250 women a year at the height of his career – despite being married to his late wife, Melinda Trenchard, for nearly 60 years.
One of those affairs – with model Katherine Berkery – resulted in the birth of Sir Tom’s love child, Jonathan Berkery.
Sir Tom agreed to pay child maintenance after a 1989 DNA test proved his paternity but the now-84-year-old Welsh crooner has staunchly refused to engage with his son, who has expressed his desire to meet his father “before it’s too late”.
FRANK SINATRA
Australian Deana Sinatra has long claimed she is the daughter of “Ol’ Blue Eyes”.
Her mum, Hungarian-born actress Eva Bartok, is believed to have had a brief affair with the Hollywood superstar in 1956, following the break-up of his marriage to Ava Gardner.
Sinatra never acknowledged that he was the father. Ms Sinatra has said that not meeting him had left a “gaping hole in my heart”.
