Footage of the moment a car crashed head-on with a stationary truck in Adelaide’s north has emerged on social media sparking disbelief no-one was seriously injured.
The truck’s dashcam footage of the incident that occurred on Glenroy St, Athol Park, last month showed the truck travelling northbound in the left-hand lane, with speed restrictions of 25km/h.
A Toyota Camry travelling southbound in the opposite lane, was then captured swerving into the left lane to avoid another truck, which meant the car was travelling on the wrong side of the road, moving towards the heavy vehicle.
Noticing the car, the truck driver slowed to a stop – but the Toyota continued driving towards it, crashing into it.
The car’s driver, a local man, 87, suffered head injuries in the incident and was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.
The truck driver was not injured, and the crash caused $10,000 in damages to the truck.
The video was posted to a Facebook group, Dashcam Owners Australia on Wednesday night.
More than 150,000 people have viewed the video, commenting on how shocking the crash was.
One man wrote: “This guy clearly shouldn’t be driving if he didn’t see that coming,” referring to the driver of the car.
Another wrote: “What’s wrong with some people, honestly?”
A SAPOL spokesman said following investigations, no charges would be brought against the driver of the car.
