Labor has selected a candidate to run in Premier Steven Marshall’s seat of Dunstan at the 2022 state election.
Cressida O’Hanlon, a local resident and small business owner, has been preselected in the seat, the party announced on Sunday.
Ms O’Hanlon was Labor’s candidate for Sturt at the 2019 federal election, but lost to Liberal James Stevens.
Opposition leader Peter Malinauskas said she was a “quality candidate” who has strong connections to the community.
“Cressida’s preselection sends a clear message to Steven Marshall he cannot take the seat of Dunstan for granted,” he said.
“(She) will spend the next year leading up to March 2022 actively campaigning for the election of a Labor Government.”
Ms O’Hanlon said she was thrilled to have been preselected, and is passionate about small business, quality healthcare, education and protecting the environment.
“I love this community – it’s where my husband and I live with our children,” she said.
“This community has given me and my family so much, and now I want to give back.”
Dunstan, formerly Norwood, has had several long-term Labor MPs including Don Dunstan, who held the seat from 1953-1979.
It has been held by Mr Marshall since the 2010 election.
