The Country Fire Service is working to contain a scrub and grass fire in the state’s Lower South-East and road closures have been put in place for safety reasons.
Emergency services first received reports of a fire at the town of Keilira on Friday at 4.20pm, however they expect combating the fire might go on for longer.
The fire started in inaccessible scrub land – which delayed CFS volunteers’ ability to put out the fire immediately – and then spread onto cured grass.
Currently, there are 40 CFS volunteers on eight trucks, two bulk water carriers still working on the fire.
The ground crew will also receive back up from National Parks and Wildlife fire crews and from landowner’s Farm Fire Units.
Six fire bombers and two observational aircraft will continue operating until the last light is put out.
SA Police has closed Rowney Road and Minnie Crow Road, Keilira and Woolumbool Road at Marcollat.
