Car crashes into Mt Gambier aged-care home, another car hits parked vehicle in Clarence Gardens and rolls

A man was sitting eating pizza in his parked car when a Volkswagen Golf suddenly crashed into his vehicle and rolled.

Three cars have been towed after a car crashed into a residential facility in Mt Gambier, while another car ploughed into a parked car and rolled at Clarence Gardens on Tuesday.

Just after 2.30pm, emergency services were called to residential facility Boandik Lodge, at Crouch Street, Mt Gambier, after reports of a Subaru station wagon crashing through a wall.

The 67-year-old driver wasn’t injured and there were no other reported injuries, but one resident was taken to hospital by an ambulance for shock.

Police said the crash caused extensive damage to the property, and driver was later fined. His car was towed from the scene.

Meanwhile, a black Volkswagen Golf hit a parked car at Clarence Gardens.

About 7.45pm, emergency services were called to a two-car crash on Caulfield Ave, Clarence Gardens.

The 20-year-old male driver from Happy Valley allegedly crashed into a blue, parked Hyundai sedan, while the owner was reportedly sitting inside eating a takeaway pizza.

After the crash, the Golf rolled on to its side and both drivers managed to escape without any serious injuries.

Police said the 20-year-old was fined and both vehicles were towed from the scene.
