Onkaparinga council candidate Rob De Jonge has offered a bottle of Jack Daniel’s whisky to whoever returns his stolen truck.
The truck was emblazoned with his campaign slogan “Rob can do the job”, along with his campaign promises for a train to Aldinga and a nature walk at Witton Bluff, volunteer movie nights, action on climate change, and more playgrounds for children.
But it went missing on Monday from just off the exit lanes leading onto South Road.
Mr De Jonge put out an appeal on the popular Facebook page Onkaparinga Council Watch with a “feeling sad” status saying: “URGENT. Have you seen my ROB Truck? MISSING from Southern Expressway. Reward for Information. (Bottle of Jack Daniels)”.
Mr De Jonge denied claims by residents commenting on the site that the truck should not have been parked on or near the expressway, but on Facebook several speculated that it may have been removed not stolen.
“So probably towed then,’’ the resident wrote.
“Missing from southern expressway? Why was it there?”
Another resident’s questions were also unanswered: “Just out of curiosity – how did you have it ‘parked’ on the southern expressway? Pretty sure there is no parking on the side of the road unless you have a breakdown/emergency?”
But Mr De Jonge told The Advertiser “It was not illegally parked” and posted on Facebook “Rob has been Robbed.”
