A massive burst water main sounding like a rumbling earthquake woke Paradise residents on Saturday, sending thousands of litres gushing and inundating three homes.
Residents are urging the complete replacement of pipes in Hamilton Tce, which they say have burst multiple times.
SA Water has offered alternative accommodation to the affected householders, who face a huge clean-up after water swamped their homes and yards.
“It sounded like an earthquake was coming on. It was terrifying and we just ran out into the backyard. And there was like literally like a Murray River,” Hamilton Tce resident Yulia Romanowski told 7 NEWS.
“It was just gushing in through both garages, and then it was going straight through the house. All the joinery is damaged now – laundry, kitchen, lounge. My son’s bedroom is completely inundated with water.”
Another resident, Baasem Khan, said: “The carpets, the curtains, the sockets are ruined the furniture is as well.
SA Water general manager customer, community and engagement David Coombe said: “Just want to really apologise for the inconvenience and the damage that it’s caused to three of the properties here. We’re certainly offering alternate accommodation if that’s required (and) clean up of their sites.”
