An Adelaide bakery has taken a playful jab at the AFL following the game-changing umpiring error which has left Crows fans and footy legends outraged.

In Saturday night’s AFL game, the Crows were denied a match winning goal against the Swans – the AFL later conceded the call was wrong but the score would remain the same.

Following the mistake, Brighton Jetty Bakery posted on social media announcing the ‘Thief’s Bun’, depicting the controversial umpiring call.

“Introducing the ‘Thief’s Bun’, if you review this closely you’ll notice the decoration is actually not even close to touching the bun itself.” the post quipped.

“Available now for the cost of your whole season.”

Bakery owner David Matkovic said: “Watching the game as an objective footy fan, it was quite ridiculous and it was a good opportunity to get involved.”

“Impartial fans could also see it and they’ve all been unified in saying the AFL screwed up here.”

Straight after the controversial decision, Mr Matkovic came up with the idea.

It is the finger bun that the bakery “always does” but with an added fondant football, which Mr Matkovic said “is not actually close to touching the bun itself”, symbolising the incident.

It was an opportunity for his bakers to “get creative”, he said.

Hundreds of people were quick to comment on how “clever” the post was.

“Very good …. Almost made me forget how angry I am still,” wrote one customer Mark Hazelwood on the post.

“Too soon” wrote Gaye Glade-Wright with a series of laughing emojis

“We do a lot of custom orders and we’re always happy to do some interesting stuff.”

Mr Matkovic said the bun was initially just part of a “joke post” on Facebook but he has since received more than a dozen requests for the dessert treat.

“It was never anything I intended to make commercial but it turns out people really like it.”

The bun will cost $5 to buy but Mr Matkovic advised that customers should order in advance.

“If people want them, we’ll make them.”
