Neighbours pay tribute to Bradley Frost, who died in hospital after violent Modbury attack

Bradley Frost’s neighbours have described him as a “a beautiful soul” who was “always willing to help”, after he died following a vicious bashing on their Modbury street.

Australia's growing drug crisis

The neighbours of the man who lost his life after a violent attack outside his Modbury home on Thursday say he was a “a beautiful soul” who was “always willing to help”.

Bradley Frost was left with life-threatening injuries after he was bashed on Victoria Drive in Modbury just after 3pm Thursday, allegedly by two men on pushbikes.

Emergency services treated his injuries at the scene before rushing him to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, but Mr Frost passed away in hospital on Friday.

Leonie and Micheal Fraser referred to Mr Frost as “the light” of Victoria Drive and said he was a “groovy neighbour” they thought of as family.

“We’re all really sad because Brad was a well-loved member of the community, especially our street,” Ms Fraser said.

“We’ve only lived here about six years and he’s been like a family member since we moved in.”

Ms Fraser said her children, Caitlin and Ewan, thought of Mr Frost like another uncle.

“My kids would meet him in the park and chat to him,” she said.

“When I told the kids yesterday they were devastated.”

Husband Micheal said the kids always felt safe when they saw Mr Frost, who he described as a protector of the street – and the family had Mr Frost over at their house for Leonie’s birthday last weekend.

“He was always trying to make the place better … he was the light of the street,” Mr Fraser said.

Ms Fraser said the 62-year-old had made a lasting impression on her friends, who said they were devastated to hear of his death.

“He would always say you’re my groovy neighbours and we’re like you’re our groovy neighbour too,” Ms Fraser said.

Ms Fraser said no one was at their home at the time of the attack on Thursday – a huge relief as she worries about the impact it would have had on her children.

Niranjan Dasari, another Victoria Drive resident, referred to Mr Frost as a “gentle giant”.

“He was a really nice person and doesn’t deserve the ending that he got,” he said.

“When someone’s in need, he jumps in – there’s no hesitation.”

Mr Dasari said the fast few days had been difficult for the neighbourhood.

“Nobody expected this kind of behaviour,” he said.

A 32-year-old Modbury North man appeared in court charged with assault causing serious harm over the incident on Friday.

He was remanded in custody to reappear at a later date.

Police are now expecting to upgrade the charge to murder.

Police believe the incident was not a random attack and are following lines of inquiry to the second suspect.

The second suspect allegedly involved in the attack has been described by police as being of Aboriginal appearance with a slim build, wearing a white singlet, dark-coloured shorts, white baseball cap and riding a white mountain bike.

Police would like to speak with anyone who may have seen, or has dashcam footage of, two men riding pushbikes on Victoria Dr, Montacute Rd or McIntyre Rd in Modbury, or saw them travelling southwest on North East Rd or south on Reservoir Rd between 2.45pm and 3.30pm on Thursday.

Anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
