A man left with critical head injuries did not know the men who attacked him, a court has heard.
On Friday, a 32-year-old Modbury North man appeared in court charged with assault causing serious harm over the incident on Victoria Drive in Modbury just after 3pm on Thursday.
Bradley Frost, 60, was left with life-threatening injuries after he was allegedly attacked by two men on pushbikes.
During the brief court hearing Magistrate Justin Wickens was asked to issue a warrant of apprehension for a second man believed to have been involved in the assault.
The court heard police suspected the man was actively avoiding police.
Mr Wickens issued the warrant and also placed an interim suppression order on the names of both accused while the investigation is underway.

A police prosecutor told the court identification would be an issue and Mr Frost did not know the men who allegedly attacked him.
She said the two men had allegedly been involved in an “altercation” with the victim and returned a short time later to allegedly assault him.
The court heard multiple witnesses were being interviewed by police and would be required to complete identification procedures.
The 32-year-old man, who appeared via phone from the Royal Adelaide Hospital where he was being treated for injuries to his hand, will appear in court in two weeks for a bail application.
CCTV believed to be of the moments before the bashing shows one of the men appearing to pull a garden stake, reportedly used in the attack, from the ground before charging towards Mr Frost’s home.
In the moments after the attack, Mr Frost’s brother, who was also allegedly attacked, and neighbours frantically trying to help the 60-year-old.
“Help, please,” a man can be heard yelling.
“Someone call an ambulance.”
Police said the second suspect was described as being of Aboriginal appearance with a slim build, wearing a white singlet, dark-coloured shorts, white baseball cap and riding a white mountain bike.
Police would like to speak with anyone who may have seen, or has dashcam footage of, two men riding pushbikes on Victoria Dr, Montacute Rd or McIntyre Rd in Modbury, or saw them travelling southwest on North East Rd or south on Reservoir Rd between 2.45pm and 3.30pm on Thursday.
Police urged anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
