Beloved handmade ugg boot store Uggs2U in Seaton shutting up shop after over fifty years

It’s been an institution for 50 years but now locals are scrambling to buy up remaining stock after the shop announced it was about to close for good.

A beloved family-owned ugg boots store in the western suburbs has announced it is closing its doors after keeping the community warm for over fifty years.

With the lease ending next month, Uggs2U owner Vlass Vlassopoulos told The Advertiser he had decided to close up shop and retire.

“The lease hasn’t been renewed and if we were 10 years younger, we might have pursued that but we also don’t want to put one foot in the grave either,” he said.

“Things happen for a reason and that’s why we decided, as soon as we finish, we want to retire.”

Mr Vlassopoulos and his family took over the business from the previous owners 10 years ago.

The Frederick Road store is currently holding a closing down sale and will continue to operate while stocks last, he said.

Over the weekend, the store was packed with loyal customers keen to snatch up some uggs and say their goodbyes before its too late.

Mr Vlassopoulos said his family was grateful to the community for their support over the years.

“Some of our customers have been coming here years.

“We’ve had three or four generations that have come past and the support has been unbelievable.”

The former primary school teacher had no experience making ugg boots before taking over and had to learn on the job, he said.

Ever since, he has continued to manufacture a range of handcrafted scuffs, slippers, boots and pull ons in-store.
