Lucky onlookers got a nostalgic taste of Adelaide in the 90s on Monday night, as a Formula 1 car graced the city streets.
The Jaguar R2 Formula 1 race car – similar to the car driven by Mark Webber in his early career – was joined by a $10m Buggatti Bolide, one of only four in the world.
Police were on hand to escort the vehicles as they raced through the CBD as part of a promotional video for the upcoming Adelaide Motorsport Festival.
The F1 vehicle made a pit-stop on Franklin St, near the old post office, where a small crowd gathered to get up close to the iconic car draped in British racing green.
Bystanders stood bemused at the scene, before confusion turned to elation as the three-litre naturally aspirated V10 engine – with its unmistakeable F1 note – roared into life.
The R2 took off down Franklin St, around Victoria Square and off towards Wakefield St.
The two cars are the most recent announcements to the Adelaide Motorsport Festival which takes place in Victoria Park on March 8 and 9.
