Adventurers choose tasty new Coopers beer for P&O Cruises

It’s the dream gig for many of us — pick out the stuff you like so it can be served on P&O Cruises. One of their first decisions? Select a new Coopers beer to be served exclusively on board.

This may be the best gig in Australia — chosen by P&O Cruises’ as “Adventurers” to promote the line’s new ship Pacific Adventure, then taste testing Coopers beer at the Regency Park brewery.

The band of families and couples were brought to Adelaide for the tasting to determine which new Coopers beer will be served exclusively on all P&O ships, as part of a partnership between the line and the famous South Australian brewery.

The project will also see the group design a new can for the beer which will only be available on the ships.

The Adventurers are 16 individuals who are helping to decide on the features of Pacific Adventure which joins the fleet next year, from menus to entertainment.

They were chosen from thousands of entries and an audition day at P&O Cruises’ headquarters in Sydney.

How to stay healthy on a cruise

The Coopers beer will be a refreshing beverage of choice when P&O returns to Adelaide in 2020 for the fifth year running offering a mix of comedy sailings, Short Breaks to Kangaroo Island, plus longer trips to Tasmania.

Following the taste testing, the Adventurers chose a dry style of beer deemed to be an excellent choice for P&O guests, both for taste and also because it is low in sugar and has no preservatives.

P&O Cruises Head of Food and Beverage Simon Blacoe said working with a like-minded Australian brand such as Coopers was a natural decision when looking for a partner to source a new addition to the range of beer on-board.

“We already stock three types of Coopers beers on our ships which are enjoyed by our guests on a variety of sailings — with Pacific Adventure on the horizon, we wanted to source a new addition to our range and in particular, wanted to find a beverage that appealed to a wide variety of guests,” he said.

“We’re always listening to our passengers and its been fantastic to have a dedicated group of individuals who can support us in this important decision.”
