Showers were expected in Adelaide in the late morning with the deluge due to hit between 2pm and 3pm, followed by thunderstorms and gusty winds in the evening. But Adelaide has so far dodged the deluge. A severe thunderstorm is still in place for the West Coast, Lower Eyre Peninsula and parts of Eastern Eyre Peninsula and North West Pastoral districts.
Meteorologist Jenny Horvat previously said the positioning of the major low pressure system would determine where the falls will hit the hardest.
LIVE RAIN RADAR
“With the heavier totals, if it comes down quick there’s a potential for some localised flooding,” Ms Horvat said.
“We‘ll have a look at the potential for some riverine flooding, but some local street or river ice is not out of the question.”
This comes as all Riverland parks campgrounds closed earlier this week due to rising water levels predicted to reach a six-year high.
The Environment Department temporarily closed all sites and most tracks within the parks from September 5 until November 30 as unregulated flows are expected to reach up to 70GL/day by mid October and inundate flood plains.
A Code Blue has been called across South Australia to help those sleeping rough during the wild weather.
The state-wide activation will come into effect from 11am today until 9am Friday 9th September 2022.
